Prior to being elected mayor for his first term in 2000, he had previously served as a councilman and Council President, for twelve years, beginning in 1988. Since he took office as mayor, the Township began annual community events, including the Mayor’s Fishing Derby, held every year at the Wilkes-Barre Township Settlement Camp; the Kennedy Park Halloween Hay-Ride; and the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Township’s municipal building. A life long resident of the Township and 1960 graduate of the Wilkes-Barre Twp. High School, Mayor Kuren continues to look forward to the coming years serving the greater Township community. Site Map
