Assessment Office NO CASH OR CREDIT CARDS ACCEPTED, Checks only The following information will be accepted: Completed Address Changes Completed Appeal Forms Required additional Homestead documentation Completed clean & green paperwork The following information is available on-line and also available in the Hazleton Office: Address Change Forms PIN Certifications Appeal Forms, Rules & Regulations Office Fee Schedule Treasurer’s Office The following services will be provided: The collection of county real estate taxes for the cities of Hazleton, Wilkes Barre, Pittston and Nanticoke. County and municipal taxes for Newport Township. Sale of duplicate tax bills and tax certifications for all five areas to third parties. Please note that no cash accepted. Checks, money orders, credit and debit cards accepted. (Convenience fees apply for credit/debit payments.) The Treasurer’s office will be closed for lunch from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. Prothonotary/Clerk of Courts The Department will offer all services except: Passport Applications, Juvenile Dependency and Delinquency, Bail Return and Certified Copies of divorce decrees that require the original signature of the Division Head. Please note that no cash will be accepted. Forms of payment accepted: money orders; cashier’s checks; personal and business checks. Credit cards will be accepted for all filings except Bail Posting and Summary Appeals, which will be cashiers’ check only. With any filing, the customer must wait for their documents to be completed. They cannot be left with staff. Recorder of Deeds/Register of Wills/Clerk of Orphan’s Court The Department will file/record all documents except: Adoption Filings; Guardianship Filings. Probates will continue to be done through Skype with the Wilkes-Barre Staff. Paperwork can then be brought to the Hazleton Office for filing. Please note that no cash will be accepted. Forms of payment accepted: money orders; cashier’s checks; personal and business checks. Credit cards will be accepted for all filings except marriage licenses and inheritance tax payments. With any filing/recording, the customer must wait for their documents to be completed. They cannot be left with staff. *Marriage License Applications: The couple must be at the Office by 2:00 PM. There will be no applications processed after 3:00 PM. If you are in line at that time, you will need to come back on another day. Please do not wait until the end of the day. NO CASH. Only money order or cashiers’ check accepted for marriage licenses. Both Parties must be present with government issued picture ID. If divorced, must bring final divorce decree in English.
