The Virginia Beach City Council is an 11-member legislative body that holds formal sessions open to the public on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, with additional formal sessions on the second and fourth Tuesdays for closed sessions regarding appointee appointments. Council meetings are cablecast live on local cable channels and rebroadcast throughout the week, with accommodations available for individuals with disabilities upon advance notice to the City Clerk.
