The Wilkes-Barre Area School District held a regular board meeting on February 14, 2022, with all nine board members present. Superintendent Dr. Costello announced a new partnership with Special Olympics PA Unified Champion Schools, a grant-funded inclusive program that will host a track event in spring where students with and without disabilities compete together, with transportation provided by the district's bussing company STA at no cost. The board also reviewed ongoing maintenance projects including switchgear replacement at Heights-Murray Elementary (rescheduled for summer 2022), flooring replacement at GAR Elementary, elevator repairs at Heights-Murray, and roof replacement at Leo E. Solomon school.
